Feb 10, 2020 — Birdwatchers across the globe will take part in the 23rd annual Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend. The citizen science project helps biologists at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology create an annual snapshot of the distribution and abundance of birds. Each February, millions of birds are counted, and the GBBC is the largest recorded count of global bird populations.
This weekend’s Great Backyard Bird Count begins on Friday, Valentine’s Day and continues through Monday, February 17. Count the birds for at least five minutes, on one or more days of the count, and then enter the data at www.birdcount.org
Todd Moe spoke with Ian Davies, an avid birder who works at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
